Colleague, Protect Your Business from Costly Work Injuries!

Over 13 million job-related injuries and deaths occur in the U.S. per year, resulting in costs equal to about 3% of our nation's gross domestic product (GDP). Billions of dollars could be potentially be save with a little more focus on safety and prevention.

Injuries can occur even in the least hazardous work environments, like storage and break rooms. Simple solutions, such as organization, can do wonders to protect your business' workforce from unnecessary and costly incidents.

Here are some organization tips that will protect your employees:

  1. Avoid stacking. When items are stacked, they can easily fall on your workers as they are trying to retrieve them. Storage systems with many shelves holding one-two items each are ideal. This keeps shuffling to a minimum, reduces workload for your employees and increases efficiency in locating items.
  2. Avoid clutter. Clutter means danger, and often danger that is unsuspected. Keep walkways clear to avoid the risk of employees tripping or slipping. Also, keep drawers with sharp items neatly organized, so employees won't accidentally cut themselves on knives, tools or even tape dispensers when searching through the drawer.
  3. Avoid awkward locations of heavy items. Keep heavy items low to the ground and easily accessible to reduce the risk of strain when moving them. Keeping heavy boxes on the lower two to three shelves is helpful. Pull-out shelving drawers also make heavy items easier to retrieve and move.

Easy Access Storage Room Shelving!

Colleague, recently a large financial institution asked us to help design a storage system that offered flexibility in what was being stored, increased security for the protection of the stored items, and an easier system for their employees to review the material stored in the shelving.

Our goal was create a flexible storage room that was more ergonomically friendly for the employees and provide additional security for the stored materials.

The shelving provided adjustable height shelving to allow for storage of boxes, books, or other items. Unique pullout shelves were design in the lower part of the shelving to provide easy access to heavy boxes without removing them from the shelves. For additional security we added tambour roll up doors to protect the contents of the shelving.

The Olpin Group can provide you a unique solution to your storage requirements. Give us a call at (714) 970-2299 or email us for more information.

Olpin Designs Local Law Enforcement Armory!

Olpin Group was contacted by a local law enforcement agency in September 08 to help design an armory in a newly constructed building where they would be moving in January 09.

The armory room was very small, 8' x 9', and their needs were very large. They needed to contain:

  • 10 - .38 caliber revolvers,
  • 6 Patrol Shotguns,
  • 50 Tazer units,
  • 50 - .45 Automatic handguns with magazines in plastic cases,
  • 50 Riot Batons - 48" long,
  • 50 radios with microphones and chargers, and
  • 6 radio battery charging bases.

Additionally, they needed to have facilities for weapon cleaning and repair as well as distribution, regulation and, inventorying for three shifts.

The Solution?

SecureIt Expandable Weapon Racks, IOPC Modular Millwork and Olpin Group Expertise!

Five SecureIt Expandable Weapon racks were outfitted to contain the proposed inventory of the Armory, with room to grow. The modular racks will adapt to their growing needs, as new weapons and accessories are introduced. A custom stainless-steel-topped cart with drawers and cabinets on wheels was built by IOPC Modular Millwork to meet their needs for a cleaning station and distribution / inventory  base, along with wall mounted open and lockable cabinets for Ammunition storage and accessories.

Olpin Group designed and built a custom laminated wall unit as a battery charging center, designed to keep unsightly wiring hidden and provide instant access to the charging stations.

Olpin Group's dedication to our customers as well as our vast experience makes us stand out as a valuable asset to our clients. We welcome any organizational challenges that you may be facing.
